That’s why we wanted to invite Jeff Wang onto this episode of Modern Business Operations. Jeff is a general partner at Lunatic Capital, which specializes in the cryptocurrency LUNA. He also writes a newsletter for Robert Kiyosaki called Rocket Fuel Crypto, and has two blockchain patents pending as well. So, suffice it to say, he’s got some interesting perspectives to offer. When Jeff isn’t doing all the things we already mentioned, he is VP of Product, Crypto at TomoCredit. He was once a Solutions Architect here at Tonkean, so it wasn’t hard to get him to sit down to chat about crypto and its effects on operations.

Operations is where Lindsay Crittendon currently works at Headspace, but that’s not where she started her career, and she thinks that’s a good thing. One of the themes she and host Briana Okyere discuss in the podcast is the importance of having a generalist and multi-disciplinary background. Lindsay still draws on her lessons from market research and consumer insights, which was where she began her career.

Lindsay points out that you can’t progress in operations by simply staying in your lane: you’ve got to put yourself in the shoes of the people you are working with and you can’t do that without having a cross-functional and multidisciplinary attitude.

She also emphasizes the importance of those in operations taking the time to share what it is that they are working on. Most ops people shy away from sharing, thinking that, “it’s not about me.” But without sharing that work, others in the company may not understand what it is that operations truly does day-to-day and week-to-week.
